Casa Vinicola Fontana Candida is based on the Fontana Candida hill in a farmstead which rises where the imposing Roman villa that perhaps belonged to the poet Horace once stood. The area is that of Monteporzio (Mons Portii), the birthplace of the Censor, Marcus Portius Cato, (243-149 BC) who revealed his love for his land in “De Agricoltura”, showing that grapes have been cultivated here from time immemorial. Fontana Candida has two wineries: the wine-making cellars at Frascati and the bottling plant at Monteporzio Catone. The vineyards of Malvasia Bianca di Candia, Malvasia del Lazio, Trebbiano Toscano and Trebbiano giallo (Greco) extend over about 214 hectares in the heart of the Frascati DOC district. The passionand the culture of wine that have made Fontana Candida the most renowned and celebrated custodian of the tradition of the famous “wines of the Popes”, and a synonym for Frascati all over the world, can be sensed everywhere in the vineyards and in the wineries.
